To control bleeding and accelerate the healing process, dental implant patients are advised to limit their physical activity for 48 to 72 hours after the procedure. Make certain to drink plenty of moderately temperate fluids, avoiding extremes. If needed you can apply ice to relieve pain and reduce swelling for the first 48 hours after the procedure. If your implants were in the upper jaw, do not blow your nose for two weeks.

You may experience some normal bleeding for two days after the procedure, and may feel discomfort, as well. This is normal and should be relieved by day three. You may also find that you run a low temperature of one or two degrees. This is also normal and not cause for concern. When you are hungry, eat as tolerated but do not chew directly on the implant or graft until fully healed.
